The Making of Patient Dog

Good afternoon everybody!

Thank you for joining me today! Brittany Barry here.

Today I’m going to be talking with you guys about my husband’s and my journey in making the book Patient Dog

It’s our first published children’s book (published before my recent book “Tail”), and the first one in a series that we’re hoping to make based off of this character Patient Dog.

Now how we got started on this was, it was more my husband’s brainchild. We were talking about books, and how they make such an impact in our lives. It’s important to have really great role models that exemplify good character to help teach ourselves and our kids what’s the right thing to do in different situations, and things that build good character.

With this story, what we were focusing on is how to have patience and still have a happy heart. In this story we have Patient Dog who’s a little puppy, and it’s adoption day at the animal shelter. While all these other dogs are getting adopted before him he still has a happy and joyful heart.

With this being the first in this series, we’re hoping to do several more like it. For example, Patient Dog waits for his owner to get home, or he’s waiting for a treat. There’s a lot of possibilities and we’re really excited about it.

If you’re interested in purchasing a copy of patient dog it’s available in the link below on

Purchase here:

There’s a Kindle version as well as a paperback version. In the paperback, you get bonus coloring book pages that will be fun for the kids.

Thank you very much for joining me today! If you want to hear the story, stay tuned!

I’m going to attach the video of me reading the book out loud to this video, and you can also find it over in the other YouTube playlist Story Time – Patient Dog

Thank you for joining me today, and thank you for joining me on this journey!

Until next time! God bless! Bye!

My work features richly dynamic characters, and illustrations that tell compelling stories. My art is inspired by the glints of wonder found in life. The honesty of an expression, the sparkle of a chandelier, the ivy-covered doorway; things that call for a story to be imagined and illustrated. I received a Master of Art in Illustration from the Savannah College of Art and Design, and a Bachelor of Science in Art Management/Minor in General Business from Appalachian State University. In my spare time from work, you’ll find me playing the piano, singing, writing, studying French, reading and drinking tea!
